DELIVERING AS ONE UN

In recent years a number of reforms have been introduced to improve UN coordination, effectiveness and efficiency in supporting national goals and to reduce the transaction costs for government. The overall intention has been to follow the principles of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness and move the UN in the direction of delivering as one at the country level while conforming more closely to national systems and procedures.

Within this context, with the agreement of the Royal Government of Bhutan, a common Country Programme Action Plan (cCPAP) encompassing the planned results of 14 UN agencies (resident & non-resident) was signed between the Government and the UN agencies in December 2007. The UN team in Bhutan believes that by cooperating on a single CPAP (as opposed to preparing four separate ones) and involving all relevant UN agencies, it will enable the UN to contribute more effectively to national goals and priorities as laid out in the 10th Five Year Plan.

UN Bhutan is one of the self-starter countries in its efforts towards delivering as One.
