Host: Dr. Karma Phuntsho (first Bhutanese to receive a D.Phil from Oxford and the first Bhutanese to become an Oxbridge Fellow.He is also the founder of Loden Foundation, a charity to promote education and entrepreneurship in Bhutan as well as the Shejun Agency for Bhutan’s Cultural Documentation and Research.)

This is an open space for critical and dynamic conversation with thought leaders and changemakers drawing upon their expertise, achievements and inspiration. Its objective is to refine our ideas and the pursuit of progress, and to align national goals with the global agenda.
Dasho Kinley Dorji (Why discuss Media and Development?)
Dasho Kinley Dorji is the Editor of the Druk Journal. He has worked in the Bhutanese media for more than three decades, served as Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication seven years, and retired in June 2016. As a young pensioner, he plans to write about life around him. Dasho Kinley will be Bhutan Dialogue’s first guest on October 12th, 2017. Dasho Kinley Dorji and Dr. Karma Phuntso will be discussing the topic “Why discuss Media and Development?”
Aum Pema Lhamo is the Executive Director of Bhutan Transparency Initiative (CSO). Mrs. Lhamo has served as a Member of the National Council of Bhutan representing Zhemgang dzongkhag in the 1st Parliament as well as served in the capacity of both member and Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee and the Good Governance Committee (2008-2013). Mrs. Lhamo also has a long career in public service (1986- 2007) as a teacher (English and Economics) and lecturer (Communication) within the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture (NRTI) respectively and Program Director for the RNR- Information and Communication Services under MoAF. She has also served in various capacities as a member to government multi-sectoral committees like GG+ (2005), Finance committee for centenary celebrations, RCSC position classification, National Career Counselling task force member etc. Additionally, Mrs. Lhamo has served on the Board of the BBS, SAARC agriculture Information Centre, Dhaka and film Review Board. Mrs. Lhamo will be joining Bhutan Dialogues on November 9th to discuss “Why Governance?”, hosted by Dr. Karma Phuntso.
