Joint Programmes

Joint programmes are efforts of two or more UN agencies to combine their expertise, and resources in a common work plan and budget. Different agencies can be working toward similar results from a different angle, such as through a focus on different target populations, geographic areas or programmatic approaches. Effectiveness and efficiency of the UN agencies increases when efforts for common results are combined in one programme document. The joint programme provides details about roles and responsibilities of partners in coordinating and managing the joint activities.

Two cross-cutting areas, gender and youth have been identified as joint programmes in the Bhutan One Programme 2014-2018.
