A community-based farmers’ organization, Dzedokha Phacheng (Zingiber cassumunar) Detshen, from Lokchina, Chukha visited the UN House today.
The Resident Coordinator, Gerald Daly, met with the 15 farmers.
While at the UN House, the farmers received a tour around the UN House with special emphasis on the greening initiative undertaken by the UN in Bhutan.
Dzedokha Phacheng Detshen is a UNDP GEF-SGP and Royal Government of Bhutan project on “Sustainable management of biological resources of nature-based products for improved livelihoods in Lokchina gewog”. The technical backstopping and support to CBO and project is provided by the National Biodiversity Center (NBC), Ministry of Agriculture and Forest.
Over the period of four days, members of the group were trained on the basics of the nature-based product development with a special focus on Zhinor massage balm and Zhinor Liniment oil. They learnt about the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices and book-keeping. As a part of the training, farmers visited the facilities of the Bio Bhutan and the Menjong Sorig Pharmaceuticals Corporation Limited (MSPCL).
The UN staff attended a short session on ethics by the Anti-Corruption Commission at the UN House today. The UN in Bhutan is currently observing the Ethics Leadership Month (October) through dedicated learning events to help staff members reflect and dialogue on ethics.Read More
